We welcome the first appearance in this Guide of this farm situated in Momjan, in the district of Buje. For almost 15 years Kristjan Brajko has been running an estate consisting of 3 hectares of specialized olive grove with 1,000 trees of typical regional varieties. In the last harvest 60 quintals of olives were produced and 10 purchased, with a yield of 10 hectolitres of oil. Our panel recommends the selection proposed, the Extra Virgin Draga, which is a beautiful intense limpid golden yellow colour with light green hues. Its aroma is ample and rotund, rich in vegetal hints of artichoke and wild thistle, together with notes of aromatic herbs, especially basil and mint. Its taste is elegant and complex, with a flavour of chicory, lettuce and a distinct note of black pepper and almond. Bitterness and pungency are present and balanced. It would be ideal on bruschette with tomatoes, baked porcini mushrooms, marinated chicken, pan-seared radicchio, bean soups, pasta with artichokes, grilled tuna, barbecued lamb, grilled game, hard mature cheese.
